When I was a young girl, the best part of the new September school year were new clothes and new pencil crayons.
Now, in this, my 57th year,( I actually had to use Google calculator to figure this out since I never think about my age), I marked the seasonal shift with a new lipstick.
It came by way of an Instagram recommendation from the beautiful jewellery designer, Mia Matovic (#miamatovic). I watched her Get Ready with Me video and inquired what her gorgeous lipstick shade was. Her answer: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, Crème Rose Velvet #130
Of course, I went straight out and bought it—a mere $8.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Delightfully, it turns out to be a dupe for my favourite lipstick colour: Charlotte Tilbury’s Bond Girl ($36). But even better, Rose Velvet is a dreamy (I meant to type creamy but I think dreamy is too good a descriptor to change), and glowy formulation, not matte as Tilbury’s is. It’s hydrating with Vitamin E and Avocado Oil but isn’t sticky or tacky, so you can wear it all day, every day. I’ve switched all my makeup to cream-based products so anything with glow is now my holy grail. On price, colour, and formulation, this lipstick is a winner!
The Super Lustrous Lipstick line isn’t called The World’s More Iconic Lipstick for no reason.

I always love getting new lipstick as well! This shade is so pretty!

I think I am going to have to pick this one up at my local Shopper’s Drug Mart. This is definitely my colour!
I have 3 of the Chantecaille Lip Chic lipsticks in rotation but at $51 a pop (I will not do the math – too scary) I love another option/recommendation to include in my lipstick mix. And I agree with you that a lipstick that is too matte does me no favours. Glowy is always better.
I love your posts!
I haven’t tried this shade yet. And trust me I have a ton!! But it’s such a lovely color.
To me new cosmetics is an inexpensive way to have fun with the extras!!

My mom used to always wear Revlon lipstick, and I once had my make-up “done” at the cosmetic counter of a large department store — back in the days when Revlon had a counter — and they chose Wine with Everything for me.
Flash forward many, many years. Last weekend, my 25 yr old daughter and I were hanging by the pool at a family friend’s house and talk turned to make-up and lipstick (my daughter works at NARS) and our friend jumped up, ran into the house, and came back with a large organizer FILLED with Revlon lipsticks. We had a great time testing on our arms and noting the different finishes…..so much fun.
Thanks for the link……just purchased the Creme Rose Velvet and Wine with Everything Pearl :~)
I think my favorite shade in the 90s was Revlon’s Rum Raisin. I believe they still make it!
I love colors like this; not too bright, not too light. Maybe some new lipstick would help me let go of summer!? xo Nipa
