It used to be that ageing gracefully was pretty much our only option. Other than ageing un-gracefully, I guess.
Times have changed, and attitudes are shifting. Older women are no longer invisible in the media, they are now a positive force to be reckoned with.
Science has taught us how to keep wrinkles at bay (sunblock) and deal with the inevitable ones we have (Retin A), and wisdom has taught us to accept our changing face with the gratitude of each and every year we are blessed with.
But as fast as the beauty industry advances, and as adept as we become at personalising a routine and layering serums and acids like a mad scientist, there is value in looking to some olden ways of caring for your complexion.
One such ancient practise I’ve recently adopted involves a beauty tool called the facial roller.
WHAT IS IT
Rose-quartz face roller.
WHEN TO USE
Daily AM or PM. Anywhere. Any time. I use mine twice a day; but at least 3 times per week is recommended.
HOW TO USE
After cleansing, glide roller with gentle outward and upwards strokes on face and neck.
Boost the efficacy of a mask or a moisturiser by Rose-Quartz Rolling while its on. The beneficial ingredients will penetrate better and take your skincare to a new level.
Can be chilled for a refreshing cooling sensation, or dipped in warm water for a relaxing treatment.
WHAT IT DOES
- Helps even out the skintone
- Aids in lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness and under-eye dark circles
- Boosts circulation
- Improves elasticity
- Promotes cell turnover
WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT
It creates an immediate glow, only takes 2-5 minutes a day, is easy and relaxing, and requires no complicated equipment or even electricity. And, it is a thing of beauty on your vanity.
