The simple button has moved from the seam lines to the front lines this season.
There has never been an easier way to update your wardrobe than with a beautiful button.
Or a row.
You might not know how to sew a dress, but everyone knows how to sew on a button. So get out your needle and thread and join the button brigade. Here is some inspiration:
EMMA STONE AT THE MET GALA IN LOUIS VUITTON (Custom made.)
Twenty-eight gold buttons adorn the skirt. What a statement! It just wouldn’t be the same without the gleaming double-button detail.
Buttons can turn something Plain Jane into something fun and stylish.
Buttons don’t need to match. High contrast = high visibility.
A tailored dress, no jewellery, just buttons that catch the light.
I updated some vintage Mondi palazzo pants by removing the plain buttons and replacing them with military-inspired ones. Navy and gold is a classic and crisp combination.
A Ports jacket that had a dated silhouette (boxy 80’s shoulder pads) but a dozen exquisite buttons, turned a vintage English cape-jacket into something striking. Although you can’t see the sleeves, I added a button to each cuff and also sewed one inside the coat in case one is ever lost.
The beauty of buttons.
