A new series, 5 Questions, with women-of-a-certain-age who intrigue and inspire.
First up, Sunia, 41, founder of Sunia K Cosmétiques Authentiques.
I wrote about her skincare product, Sabrah, a facial oi. (See my post here).
So let’s MEET THE MAKER:
She is the brains behind Sabrah Prickly Pear Seed Oil.
I started by trying to remember every moment in my life where I was feeling good and thought I was beautiful and comfortable with myself. I’ve started changing what I was thinking about myself first. I also started to gradually change my lifestyle habits, like food, exercise, clothes/ fabrics I wear and products I apply to my skin.
While on this journey, I discovered Sabrah Oil by coincidence. Ironically it came from my home Country, Tunisia. At that time this oil, from the Prickly Pear, was not known anywhere in Europe, or in any other the country for that matter. The owner of the farm where this fruit is grown had invented a process to extract the seeds and cold press them to create this healing product. It was very expensive because of the extracting process and at that time and I was not able to afford it. I negotiated with the farmer for samples and eventually, I bought a batch to give it a long-term trial. I found that It really helped my skin and used it almost to the point of addiction! My skin ( body and face ) was looking and feeling even better than before, Along with all the other changes, it has made the difference.
QUESTION FOUR: . WHAT MAKES SABRAH OIL DIFFERENT?
What makes Sabrah Oil stand out from the others is that for conditions such as loss of skin elasticity as a result of age, or for psoriasis, eczema, dryness, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) are very important and their composition in Sabrah Oil are very high: 65% on average. The chemical reaction of all components together such us EFA, Vitamin A, E & K makes it particularly effective for this type of skin. Its molecule is very small which makes a very lightweight oil which is quickly absorbed, thus requiring a very small amount to get its benefits. The fruit from which it comes from is an antioxidant and its seed is a concentration of the fruit’s properties.
Yes, we are already planning new Face & Body Care products using Sabrah Oil to offer the best of Sabrah Oil benefits. Our newest product is LA VIE EN ROSE, a pure, organic Moroccan Rose Water mist.
I practice farniente which translates to ‘without a care’ or ‘to do nothing’. Farniente is the lovely Italian custom of not doing anything besides enjoying oneself. On Saturdays, I take myself to a nice place like Ladurée to have a coffee or piece of cake, read a book by myself, stay in the park, watch the sunset, or walk in the street and watch people, just enjoying the moment. We did that in Tunisia where I grew up but I forgot about it once I moved away. I’m so happy to have gotten back to farniente amidst the craziness of life in New York.
