Anti-Ageing Serums

The truth about serums is, you need one.

Serums are the super-charged skincare super-heros delivering visibly better skin. If you’ve never used one before, prepare to be amazed.

There are hundreds of serums at every price point and for every skin type currently on the market. But don’t let price be your guide; some of the most expensive serums with big marketing campaigns are more hype than science, or simply don’t have the ingredients to deliver on their claims. And when it comes to serums, science is what you want.

Serums work because they are highly active concentrates which utilize biotechnological innovations that work not only on the skin level, but below the skin surface. Serums can rejuvenate and rehydrate the skin whilst reducing lines, wrinkles, sagging, and uneven texture. Serums are an adjunct to good skincare and sun protection. There is little sense in employing anti-ageing agents if you are continually incurring sun damage by not applying sunblock daily.

Since I started using serums, about a year ago, Jay keeps saying that my skin “is glowing.” More importantly, I wake up and look in the mirror and see a smoothed out virtually perfect and poreless skin. I’ve started not washing my face in the morning because I don’t want to fiddle with this incredible skin. Putting foundation on is a bit of a cheat because the face is just so smooth and plump it hardly needs much product or effort to make it look flawless. (FYI: my primer is this; and my foundation is this).

But the good news is that the instantly better skin just keeps getting better. I’ve not yet jumped into the prescription retinol game, but this Hylamide serum contains Nonapeptide-3 Retino-Complex: “a novel technology that promotes better visible anti-aging results than Retinol with less irritation” (source:Deciem).

So if you are still looking for a serum, or have tried a few and are still searching for The One, I can highly recommend this one. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now, and will be re-ordering soon. I must admit that I love the packaging, the dropper dispenser, the fact that it’s affordable; it’s Canadian; that I can buy it in Canadian dollars (believe me it makes a difference!); and that the shipping is free. But what really matters is if it works. And it does. My skin is better than ever now thanks to serums.

Serums are an integral part of my skincare routine now between cleansing and moisturising. I keep mine in the fridge to stay fresh although I’m not sure you have to. (Has anyone come up with a bathroom chilled cabinet for serums and beauty molecules yet ? I need one.)

So do try a serum.

And get used to getting compliments.
