A furious winter storm blew through here yesterday.
I watched a tree fall, hit the power line, and then land on the roof of a house. We were without electricity (and the Internet) for 12 hours. Unlike many of the houses in the area, we do not have a wood stove or a generator. So we were in the dark, and in the cold. Not much fun.
But this morning, the light and heat returned. As coffee was brewed and bread was toasted, I had a new-found appreciation for that which we take for granted on a daily basis.
Outside our window, crews have been working virtually round the clock. And although power was restored seven hours ago, they are still there.
Amazing how much chaos a wind and a tree can cause.
