The Art of Makeup

Lisa Eldridge’s brand new book, FACE PAINT is gracing my coffee table. And what a beauty it is.

I was on the pre-order list on Amazon because I knew it was sure to be an instant hit. Barely on the shelves, it is already currently Amazon’s  #1 Best-seller in Fashion History, #1 in Beauty, #2 in Fashion, and currently ranking in the Top 100 Books on Amazon. I have a feeling this gorgeous book is going to be under many a Christmas tree this year.

The photography is exceptional; the writing is quintessentially Lisa (intelligent, measured–I can practically hear her lilting English accent as I read the text thanks to watching many (many) of her You Tube videos). The inclusion of images of her personal collection of vintage cosmetics is a wonderfully interesting personal touch.

The book has exceeded my expectations. I love the size; I love the paper; the cover image is just so crazy amazing. The research Lisa Eldridge did for this book is flat-out impressive especially considering she is a busy professional makeup artist, Global Creative Director for Lancome, not to mention Mum to two boys.

You can buy the book at Amazon here.

    Lisa is an inspiration.

My interest in makeup is pretty much zero but I have had great fun reading about the history of painted ladies. And, as you say, the design, layout, photography and writing are all top drawer.

But darling, surely it is a New Zealand accent….
