Although I am in my 50s, I have recently had a bit of a beauty revelation.
I’ve never really been into makeup. I wore some makeup–usually just mascara and lipstick, if truth be told–so when I decided to acquire a proper makeup ensemble, I was really starting from scratch. In trying to decide what I needed and what to purchase, I did some research—watching beauty gurus on YouTube, reading reviews and comments—and took my sweet time deciding. Since I live in the forest, things went in and then back out of on-line shopping carts for weeks. I compiled “Wish Lists”, “Loves” and “Obsessions”. All because I just wanted a few good things, nay great things, rather than cabinets overflowing with products unused and unloved.
I was looking for products that not only performed brilliantly, but were also aesthetically lovely. I wanted to display my cosmetics on my dressing table not stuff them into a makeup bag or stash it all away in drawers.
The winner in both categories: Charlotte Tilbury.
My first purchase was a matte eyeshadow palette, The Sophisticate. The Art Deco-inspired rose gold and burgundy case was beautiful, the product exceptional. Ordered on-line (with free shipping to Canada!!), the delivery was impressively fast, and the wrapping and boxing indicated great care and attention to detail.
Fast forward several months…. I now know the Fed-Ex driver by name; and my small but perfect makeup collection is a thing of elegance and beauty. Here is the list:
Charlotte Tilbury: Light Wonder Foundation (shade 2); Airbrush Flawless Finish powder (1 Fair); The Retoucher concealer (1Fair); Filmstar Bronze and Glow (Fair-Medium); Cheek to Chic blush (Love Glow); Luxury Palette, The Sophisticate; Full Fat Lashes mascara (black); The Feline Flick eyeliner (panther); Brow Lift (Brooke S); Matte Revolution lipsticks: Bond Girl, Love Liberty, Very Victoria.
